From the moment they're born,
children are treated differently based on their gender...

Children As They Are helps parents and educators create environments that are safe for children to express themselves authentically and develop well-rounded interests - whether or not they're considered "right" for boys or girls.

It's Bigger Than Hip-Hop:
A Chicago Community Conversation

Children As They Are and GenderPAC's new Community Partners initiative have joined forces with Chicago Youth Centers -- ABC/BBR to work with families, educators, community leaders, and youth in challenging the social pressures that many children feel to be overly-aggressive boys or ultra-feminine, sexualized girls.

On Thursday, June 14, rap star Talib Kweli will join the Chicago Community Conversation to bring together local families, educators, community leaders, and youth to strategize the best ways to challenge messages of hyper-masculinity, sexism, and homophobia that children and youth are receiving from media and mainstream hip-hop.

Don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of this amazing event! RSVP today at rsvp@gpac.org.
