- Students at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC and Clark
University in Worcester, MA formed
The National
Student Genderblind Campaign to work towards achieving
gender-neutral collegiate policies.
- Queer Students Alliance (University of Texas at Austin) published
The State of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Affairs,
a student-initiated report on the lives and experiences of LGBTQ
students on campus that makes concrete recommendations for change at
the University.
- GenderYOUTH chapter members at the College of William & Mary
earned the support of the Student Senate to offer gender-blind
housing on campus.
- GenderYOUTH Trainer Adrian Shanker at Muhlenberg College worked
with the college’s Director of Student Leadership Development and
Greek Affairs to provide “transgender” and “gender non-conforming”
as options on campus surveys.
- Sigma Phi Beta Fraternity’s national board of directors enacted a
policy that allows individuals who self-identify as male to seek
membership, regardless of their sex at birth and whether or not they
have obtained legal recognition of their gender identity. Full
members can maintain their membership, even if at a later date they
decide to change their gender to female.
- University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire chapter members successfully
lobbied to school administrators to expand non-discrimination policy
to include "gender identity" for the entire UW system.
